Is Notre Dame Slowly Becoming Good

Is Notre Dame slowly becoming good ?

they are 5-2 this year .... yes i know they havent had the toughest schedule so far ...... but a winning record is better then the past few years .... could they be on the verge of being ranked again .. maybe next year ?

Maybe, Weiss has had some highly touted classes, you would expect them to be a lot better than they are to be honest. With the level of talent going into that program and the easy schedule they have played, they should be unbeaten. The only team they face with comparable personnel is USC (the one that wins titles).

The answer to the question is NO, they aren't becoming competitive with the top dogs. They are just schedulling the smaller ones that they think they can beat. As soft as the Irish schedule has become the only way they should be ranked is if they go undefeated next year though game 7 or 8.

Yes they are getting better, i actually expected them to be as good as they are so far, the qb is still learning weis's playbook and our offensive line is young, i say by the time he is a senior we will be contending for the national championship.

Maybe, if Penn State is actually considered a contender with their schedule full of cupcakes, then anyone can contend.

Re: Is Notre Dame Slowly Becoming Good

I would say Boise State has recently become good in maybe the last 2-3 years. Their blue field i believe intimidates their opponents everytime they play on it. Does it make it harder to play on a blue field?

Some of those teams were rated until the reality that they are not good became apparent. Want to see how Notre Dame stacks up nationally, wait until we see how bad USC demolishes them. (Ohio State didn't fare too well at USC by the way)

Re: Is Notre Dame Slowly Becoming Good

I've watched the Irish pretty regularly this year, as my old man's a big fan. They're a first-half team, and against better competition that hasn't been good enough. I'm not sure if it's coaching or lack of depth, but they just haven't been the same team in the second half. I've heard some criticism of their running game, too. The Pitt game was a great game, though. Excellent defensive efforts by both teams.
