What is up with this? ND athletic department says they had nothing to do with the decision to replace Tony Roberts with Don Criqui. That sounds like a load of bs to me but I've not followed this until now.

I know that when the Voice of the Vols John Ward retired, it was a big deal about finding a good replacement for him. The jury's still out on Bob Kessling who replaced him.

Was Tony Roberts going downhill and really needed to leave? Is Don Criqui the right guy to replace him?

Can't comment on Roberts, because I've never listened to games on the Irish radio network. But if they did feel it was time for him to go, Criqui makes sense. He's been the guy calling Notre Dame football games for NBC for years now, so he should be initimately familiar with the team and the athletic dept. staff. Wonder who replaces him on NBC's telecasts.
