When it comes to Notre Dame athletics, there's success in football, baseball, softball and volleyball is still riding the wave of a state championship.


Basketball has been the one sport where other teams in District 5-3A have a chance to shine. It's been six years since a Pioneers' boys team has won the district title and participated in postseason play.

The girls team had enjoyed a stretch of dominance, but that has tapered off in recent seasons.

Tonight, though, is a huge opportunity for both programs to make up some ground in a hurry when the Northwest boys and girls teams invade Notre Dame with first place on the line on both sides.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a high school, right? Not the Fighting Irish? So how would their football team fare... ah, never mind.

I guess it is. I need to pay more attention but we have a look at future univeristy players.
