Hmm... looks like the Irish get started in the Clearwater Invitational against Liberty on Feb. 22. How good will they be?

Way better than last year, judging by the intersquad Blue/Gold series this fall. New pitchers will strengthen the starting rotation, frosh and last year's bench players have strong hitting power and some speed on the base paths, and defense at all positions continues strong, with a lot of improvement behind the plate. Fewer passed balls and quicker pop times will cut way down on stolen bases against the Irish this season.

I sure hope they're good. Irish fans need a good season on the diamond to wash the taste of 2-9 out of their mouths.

What's the pitching staff look like this season?

The Irish should have a solid starting rotation as well as good back up in the bull pen. Some of the pitchers have good pick off moves as well. The younger pitchers show pretty good control of their spots, and not many balls in the dirt. Once the season starts it will be interesting to see how their speed has increased with the winter strength training.
