Angry Nd Not Playing Hard

I hope ND fans are starting to see that Charlie Weiss may be a bust as coach. I am a big ND supporter. I heard all the excuses early this season. Recruiting by Ty etc... Well it's late in season. At what point does Charlie's recruits (even if young) show improvement?

Team has hardly shown improvement and that's because contrary to what Charlie says to media. This team has quit! I will give an example. I TIVO'd AF-ND game. At beginning of second half NUMBER 98 ND def lineman is just running around out there. Not playing hard as entire team is not playing hard. 98 just runs after the play not even falling on pile. Seriously watch him if you recorded game. I don't know who player is nor do I care. It's unforgiveable that a ND team has quit. Weiss has a huge ego and he is sounding alot like Bob Davie with his BS to media. 'Team won't quit." They already have!

I tell you no one wants hear this at ND. But Weiss could end up hurting the program. His egotistical remarks have no merit. "Enjoy beating us up now, we will be back" remarks is just boastfulness. The Navy game: Going for fake FG up 7-0; going for 1st down with 7 minutes left down 7 and 4th @ 15 on your 30? Granted it worked by grace of God. Not trying a 42 yrd FG to win game cause your kicker was not hitting them in pregame warmups. But going for it 4th and 8 is a sounder decision? This is reckless playcalling.

Unless Weiss gets his ego under control and admits his shortcomings. ND is going to end up buying out his contract extension. Another season like this won't be tolerated. Too much money on line. Ie... NBC TV contract. Which is why ND has not been able win another national championship. NBC demands a tough schedule.

Re: Nd Not Playing Hard

ND sealed their fate with the NotreDame Broadcasting Company. Seriously, your schedule this year is silly. Get. Over. It.

You lost to Air Force and Navy. Your team has no talent and no depth. The cupboard is bare. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing about how its a crime for ND to stink.

Weiss is as big a fraud as Mangini. At least ND is not alone, the entire city of NY fell for the chutes and ladders Mangini pulled.

The only coach worth his pay was Romeo and he's turning around the Cleveland program.

It's bleak and I don't see it getting any better. I'm not a real huge ND fan but this is horrific. You're getting beat by the academy's...that should tell you it's not about recruiting but is instead about the coaching or lack of.

Very few coordinators make good head coaches.

Thank you for your opinion . Please take the tme to register and join us often with you input.

Notre Dame has never been my favorite team but I hate to see any program so rich in tradition in such a mess.

Could this be time for Notre Dame to Join a confrence?

Tuck4Bama I mentioned I was big Irish fan. HOWEVER I am not one of those seeing thru Blue&Gold colored glasses fans. I saw problems early on with Weiss and spoke out about it to other Irish fans. They are now seeing what I was seeing. Contrary to Florida fan. The talent on Irish is not empty. Obviously they have issues but Weiss has some top ranked classes. I tell you Weiss has no clue. I put him in the Mike Martz class. Talented OC/QB coach but lousy head coach. Too egotistical to recognize his faults. Good head coaches are basically great managers of talent from coaching down to players. Weiss is an X's & O's play caller. He seems to not know how to prepare an entire team for games nor how to communicate with players. Nor does he seem to know how to fix problems. Ie... Offensive line's lack of strength. That's a weight room situation there. Should have been addressed in off season.

I totally agree about irish joining a conference.
They should have joined Big ten few years ago. but unfortunately there are Irish supporters who live in past. still want to believe in past. I actually think long term what is going on may be for best. It may force ND officials to realize reality and make the needed changes. Ie... Pay a big name proven coach big $$ to come to ND. Join a conference etc...

Re: Nd Not Playing Hard

It would be great to see them joing the Big Ten or Big East, but as long as NBC comes calling with multi-million dollar TV deals, it'll never happen.

Lefty ND keeps losing way they are... That NBC contract will be gone. You heard joke Regis Philbin bail them out by buying Weiss contract out? LOL Administration lives in fantasy of developing/building one of there own as a coach. Weiss roomed with Joe Montana in college. Get a clue, pay the big bucks and bring in a big name coach. Hell do what USC did. Hire someone like Jon Gruden (has said he's interested in past) if he wants out of Tampa Bay. But you have to pay the $$.

You might want to rethnik your idea of an NFL coach. If you will read the post I made about Weis and NFL coaches you will see what I mean. They are in a mess financially no matter who they want to bring on baoard.

Have to pay! My God! Weis can make 40 million in ten years with any real success in the program. I can't believe the Irish couldn't find a good coach for those kind of dollars!

Re: Nd Not Playing Hard

They did pay the big bucks, and they brought in the offensive coordinator of a dominant Super Bowl team. Who's a bigger name than THAT?

I think they need to do the opposite. Stop worrying about landing the "big name" and get the best coach no matter who it is.

I kind of agree with you to a point. There are several coaches that can be great head coaches, but can not run the entire program. How many Head coaches in the NFL tried to be coach and GM. It does not work. I think Weiss may have to learn how to delegate. It is a full time job running the offense, defense, coaching the game, worrying about recruiting, worrying about boosters and alumni, TV deals. He needs to hire some help. Last I heard, he was trying to run the whole show.

Hey 492, "trying to run the whole show", THAT WEIS's EGO! If he is as smart as advertised you're correct in you posting as to what he may need to do.
