ND sucks - I think we can all agree on that - they are horrible, no-good (but enough young talent to keep us interested), and like a train wreck, we cannot avert our eyes. That said...
I looked in my Rules & regs for football at the holding call and that touchdown that was called back wasn't it. Now, if the touchdown had stuck would ND have won? Heck no! BC would have had another 4-5 play drive and scored with ease - it is the principle.
The officials, both pro and college, this year particularly, are awful! Has the game gotten to fast for these idiots? Did anyone watch teh FSU/Wake Forest game!? An 8 minute delay on a punt!
I am a diehard Irish and Bears fan - and I love the game of football - but I am tired of great punt/kickoff returns called back for nothing, tired of watching old men in strips looking confused and huddled together while I am watching the game. I am sick of the refs thinking the game is all about them (even BC got screwed on calls) and throwing flags on what they think they see! If there is holding on every play - then call it...every play.
If that was holding on the TD play in the ND/BC game, then the rules book should be rewritten. Not that it would have mattered in the end - ND still would have lost.

Watch the pros today - and try and calculate how much time is wasted with referees

I didn't get to see the game, Dan, but I gave a shout out to my old man, a huge Irish fan.

He seems to think that the holding call was legit. Didn't like the excessive celebration call one bit, though.
