I have been looking over the rosters released yesterday for next week's three game Blue/Gold Baseball Classic series in South Bend. With the players who are out for football commitments or nursing injuries, the squads look very evenly balanced. Blue has more senior leadership, but Gold has lots of left handed pitching. Stolen bases owned this fall in scrimmages by players on both sides are about even.

Should be some exciting baseball. Maybe my bias is showing, and pitching rotations have not been released yet, but with Gaston as Blue's DH and McConnell in the catcher's box, I give the edge to Blue two games over one.

Anyone else have preliminary thoughts? The series should be a great preview of spring 2008 expectations.
