ESPN is reporting that Demetrius Jones, who started the season opener for the Irish, has left the team and the university. I believe they said he went to Northern Illinois. Anyone have details on this story? Why did the kid leave Notre Dame?

As far as I know, yes, but I don't know the whole story. Nor do I know how the fact that he already played this year will impact things.

Well, I know the team had installed some plays specifically for him earlier in the week. So much for that, I guess.

Jones doesn't deserve to play organized football ever again! I hate Notre Dame, but even I wouldn't pack my bags and go to another school without being a man and telling my coaches. Thats just bush league. I have no respect for that punk. ND is better off without him. I spit on you Mr. Jones. You have no class.

Maybe Demetrius Jones is smarter than your giving him credit for. He certainly doesn't want to be labled as a loser. Cut-n-Run won't help him he will forever be a lepurchan. Charlie Weis is going to lose a lot of something this season this season just twists and churns into a nasty thing...

I agree with you concerning Jones handling of his transfer but don't blame him for doing so.

Furthermore, I don't believe he should have any more loyality to the Irish than Weis had to him. If Weis determined that Jones wasn't good enough to lead the Irish as QB, then Jones's decision was made for him by Weis. I think you will see more players doing the same thing when they realize Weis has no intention of developing them and is looking to replace talent with better talent in his opinion.

I totally disagree. College football is a job, like it or not, and in the work force you compete for better jobs. If Jones thinks he is so good why trnasfer to NIU? He should have sucked it up and worked harder. I really don't care about Notre Dame at all, I just thought the way he handled things said a lot about his character and felt like showing a little love for the Irish in these tough times.

If what I am reading on other sites it looks like my prediction is coming true. It is reported that Reulan(Sp?) a 5 Star recruit is leaving the team in mid-season. He was recruited as a TE.

He won't be the last.
