| Re: Demetrius Jones transfers It's Charlie's personality and treatment of the players. Some will not openly state their dissatisfaction of Weis in fear of the consequencies they will have to face. It's basically his abusive treatment of both his coaches and the players in a publicly demeaning manner. Also, it is felt that he misled a few of them when they were being recruited. We saw the turn-a-round Jones made after insinuating Charlie lied to him. And, we saw the vindictiveness of ND shined through in their attempt to stop Jones from playing football for the next two years, as well as, their failed attempt to penalize Jones by making his family pay for this coming year as a non-scholarship player. If they had been successful in blocking his enrollment for a few more days then he would have has to sit next year as well as this year. My source is my continuing contact with former players under Charlie both on campus and off-campus plus several students on campus that know both current players and former players. I, also, know several parents of the players who left recently and they are horrified as what is happening at ND. Enough that they give up the idea of getting a ND education because their boys were so unhappy with Weis and the attitude he brought with his staff. The basic primus is that he didn't bring nastiness to ND football he just brought meanness. |

| Re: Demetrius Jones transfers It's amazing to see all the BS games Dr. White and Weis apparently played with the media concerning releasing Jones from his scholarship to persue opportunities elsewhere. I KNOW FOR A FACT, in talking to the parents of two boys who transfered, that they were told that any decision regarding their sons being released from their scholarship was strictly up to the Head Coach. Both of these former players were told directly by Weis that he could stop them from playing anywhere else and that he did not want either of them to transfer. I also know for a fact that one of the parents threatened to sue ND if Weis attempted to stop their son from accepting a scholarship at a school ND had on their schedule this season. According to the parent that I talked directly with via phone, Dr. White overruled Charlie and the boy could have gone to the school he thought he wanted to attend at first. In the end though the boy chose a different school which doesn't schedule the Irish. Also, the other parent I talked with informed me that if he had known they could have appealed Weis's decision as to what schools their son could accept a scholarship from they would have secured an attorney and brought suit against ND for discrimitory treatment. The second player picked a school other than the one that he really wanted to go to because of Weis's stance. Two of those offering this kid was Michigan State and Ohio State, the latter wanted the boy to walk on as they were out of scholarships. The Buckeyes told the kid that they would give him one in Janurary if he did. |
