Life's too short to watch crappy ball

I just turned off the game when Michigan threw a nice pass (must be nice) tothe one yard line - it will be 17 - 0. I think these young players will do fine...later. I can't stand seeing them quit which they have done already. The annoucers are not only ignorant but obnoxious. Life's too short - think I'll read a book.

Fire Charlie Weiss? Starting to sound better and better

I hear ya, dan. My old man's a big Notre Dame fan. I talked to him a while ago and he told me that this Irish team was proof positive that, no matter how good a gameplan is, you can execute it if you don't have the talent. I take that to mean he thinks Weis is doing well enough but he just doesn't have the people right now. Looks like it's gonna be a long season for y'all...

Re: Life's too short to watch crappy ball

I ended up watching th eend but the real reason I turned it off was the announcers - they said several things wrong, were very Pro-Michigan, and annoying.

Re: Life's too short to watch crappy ball

Their recruiting class is one of the best according to the "experts." We are in a rut b/c of Willingham's failure to recruit. Brady Quinn was going to the Irish no matter who was coach so Ty can't claim him. Things will get better (maybe worse first).

Hate this for Notre Dame but I think i's gonna be one the worst years ever. Rather see the Irish win than Michigan today.

Re: Life's too short to watch crappy ball

That's as bad a loss as you can have.

Begs the question though...would you rather a close game and a heart breaking loss...or rather being blown out to limit the expectation for a win.

Anyway, Notre Dame just doesn't look like a competitive team this year. But consecutive poor seasons, blasphemy.

If ND doesn't have the talent therefore they can't win, then how do we explain the Boise State's and Oregon State Beavers of the football world. Their recruiting class aren't anywhere close to the Irish's and they either beat the hell out of ND in the Bowls or could in a majority of people's opinions I have talked with.

People are putting too much stock in the recruiting ratings. The Boise duo of Zabranski and Johnson last year compared very favorably to Quinn and Walker, if you ask me. Just because some schmo over at Rivals doesn't rate a recruiting class in the top 10 doesn't mean it might have some serious talent on it. Just like the NFL Draft has proven that player rating isn't an exact science, so does recruiting. You can have talented skill position players out the wazoo, but clearly they haven't done well enough getting or teaching offensive linemen, because that is the heart of their problems.

I am in 100% agreement with you on the hype placed on recruiting ratings. That's always been my point with the Irish. They supposedly get top ranked classes or better ranked classes than most of their opponent and still lose to them. So, the ranking are BS to sell subscription, mags, and keep the "talking heads" in jobs or the coaching staff at ND isn't developing the talent they are getting. Again, I say next two years will be exposed the true coaching of the present staff. This is assumming there will be a significant improvement in next years W column.

You just dont understand! You cannot throw a player like Jimmy Clausen into the starting QB at notre dame when he doesnt have any experience. why he wasnt redshirted I dont know! but it was a dumb move by charlie weis not to redshirt him. Think of the pressure your under when your suppose to win every game be the greatest freshmen QB of all time and on top of it all play for Notre Dame. And some of that pressure is on all the other young kids that are playing. Just wait Charlie is not stupid it takes academics to go to ND like he did and in a couple of years they will be competing for the NC once again! It just takes time for things to develop and firing Coach weis is not going to do crap as you have already seen the three year coaching thing doesnt work out. When the ND Athletic Director gives a guy enough time to develop his recruiting class ND will contend.

That I agree with completely. I don't like throwing an unseasoned QB to the wolves with the unlikely hope he can turn it around.

I have to disagree with you a little. I think he should have stuck with Clausen. That is the only way to gain the experience....play the game. |If it is a rebuilding year as you say, they were not expecting to win anyway. Get him the starts so he will be seasoned next year. I don't remember, but wasn't Colt McCoy started as a freshman last year? He didn't fold under the pressure. I think winning at a college like Texas has as much pressure as anywhere.

Yes, it was. But the difference is that McCoy has talent around him and a good offensive line. Clausen has neither of those things. What can he learn by getting killed by the pass rush multiple times per game?
