Fighting Irish vs. Nittany Lions

Things could well go from bad to worse for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend. After an embarrassing loss to Georgia Tech in which the Irish defense surrendered nearly 200 yards rushing to Tashard Choice, had net rushing yardage of -8 and gave up 9 quarterback sacks. Now they have #17 Penn State, and one of the best LBs in the country in Dan Connor, up next on the schedule. Whoo-boy. Do the Irish have a chance?

Re: Fighting Irish vs. Nittany Lions

The Notre Dame offensive line vs. the "Linebacker U." defense. That's what's going to decide the game, and the match-up is certainly not tilted in favor of the Irish. They have got to run block and pass protect better to have a shot, and that is going to be might difficult to accomplish against this Penn State D. Sorry, Irish fans, but it looks like an 0-2 start for you.

I am more worried about Derrik Williams tearing up the defense then Linebacker U

Well, I am going to row against the current here...I think the Clausen kid will become the second coming of Golden Joe Montana in this one and have 5 first half TDs...avoiding the rush in though the O-line is awful...the over confident Lions will crawl back to where they came from... ...How's that?

Re: Fighting Irish vs. Nittany Lions

Every Notre Dame quarterback SINCE Joe Montana has been hyped up as the second coming of Joe Montana. Clausen's a freshman, and as such, if he even starts he's going to make mistakes. He's going to be under constant pressure and unless something drastic changes, there's going to be no running game to bail him out. That does not look like a recipe for success, I'm afraid.

That's why I and only I, have the guts to call him great early...Clausen 5 TDs in the 1st half against Pen State...pencil it in...well, if he starts of course...

I bet Clausen is wishing he had been sining Ole' Rockytop instead of getting destroyed by GA Tech. Well strap it on Penn State is going to punish the Irish. This may be the farewell season for Joe Pa and what a way to do it crushing Notre Dame.

Nah, Claussen's got Tom Brady and Brady Quinn's mentor getting him set for the NFL. I think it's pretty clear he made the right call.

Yeah, you got to like the odds with that...as long as the coach don't get axed.

Re: Fighting Irish vs. Nittany Lions

Well since our O-Line had more holes than a brick of swiss cheese last week and our defense looked equally as yucky it's probably going to be another Sat with me throwing rolled up socks at the tv, lol I have to say though, Clausen did give me one ray of hope, too bad it took so long to get him in the game... incidentally, did any see Joe Pa running onto the field last week?! He looked like he was either going to have a heart attack or stumble and fall on him face. I swear they should just let him coach til he drops dead on the sidelines, which by the look of him could be sooner than later!

In other news, the FSU-Clemson game actually turned out to be quite a nailbiter.. Since I live in FL I had to adopt a team (Well I didn't really HAVE to but it's a heck of a lot closer to drive to Tallahassee than it is to South Bend, lol) and FSU was my choice..(If it comes down to it, OBVIOUSLY ND has my heart) I was at that game last year, with the same results..oh well, it looks like my college teams are going to sucks this year.. my only football hope is going to be the Patriots now, lol
