I ain't a Weis hater but I think that a coach at this college level and the recruiting class that he had this year has to at least break even. Much less break every negative/loss record in the history of ND. Um, thats like 119 years my friend. And he's got the worst team...ever!

Oh, one other thing to point out: Look at Tom Brady and the Patriots... what do u see? ah, they are 7-0 and Tom Brady is looking better than ever. It seems that Charlie Weis (when he was the patriots QB coach) was more debilitating to Tom Brady than anything. Tom just has a lot of talent and even with negative Charlie he won them 3 super bowls. Tom is having a breakout year and most likely will shatter the TD record for one season. And I'm talking about Tom Brady here, not the Patriots team.

Listen to Charlie Weis' press conferences... nothing but negativity and to be quite frank, sounds like he is always depressed. No energy in him, no Rockne style pep talks... nothing. Even if he did have an offensive line that could block, they wouldn't block very well just by the mere fact he can't jack them up. Tell me, would you feel like killin' yourself every play with Charlie Weis as your coach? I didn't think so.

Its true, you can't blame everything on the guy. However, as head coach of a major college football team, he has to accept the responsibility and realize that in this day and age when a team loses, it is blamed on the head coach. It is his job to make sure the offensive line is coordinated enough to protect the quarterback, its his job to make sure he has a prepared quarterback, etc.

And not to mention the decisions he has made... I don't think that Jones got a fair shake at the quarterback position. What kind of a coach would end up making an environment where Jones quits the team and transfers to another university? I think 4 players left now because of Charlie. Sounds like he's making a great environment for the team!

I really do hope ND has a breakout season next year. I'm all for it. But I don't see that happening with the way Charlie Weis handles situations. True, ND did do well in Charlie's first 2 seasons but to be honest he didn't recruit Brady Quinn or a lot of other key play makers. That was all Tye's doing.

Correct me if I'm in error but Weis's recruits have been in the Irish program for three years as of this season! He and/or Latina recruited half of the offensive line in Young, Turkovich, and Dunkin and we can see how they developed these recruits. Weis better come up with a much improved program for developing talent then he presently has or he will be out the door. ND fans don't tolarate losing seasons well, especially those that set records for the wrong reasons.

Did I just read an excuse on this board that stated that the reason the Irish can't win is because ND doesn't allow enough flexibility in recruiting? But you just lost to Navy...talk about a program that has it's hands tied - the Naval Academy has more competitive standards than ND and you also have to then serve in the Navy/Marines. Bad excuse. There is no excuse for ND to lose to a Navy team that just lost to Delaware...I don't care how young your team is. I think Charlie is overrated. Things will not get that much better anytime soon. It's one thing to lose, but this ND team has gotten destroyed by good teams and can't beat average teams.

Nonsense Charlie Weis is still the man all you people can say what you want but in Charlie we trust Bottom line. it's his third season in N.D. but this should be the last season like this one. Every record has been broken as far as it can be thrown. Every record must fall. Charlie Weis is dumb. I didn't pay $120,000 to go to Notre Dame, become an alum, and then see this piece of garbage try and coach a team. Hey Charlie, how bout you call another fake punt, or decide to go for it on 4th and 10 instead of kicking the field goal.... moron. I don't care how good he is at recruiting, he's way too stubborn and will NEVER be a good head coach. After he goes 4-8 next year, the ND alums will buy out his contract and fire his sorry ass. In my humble opinion, they should also revoke his ND Degree, he does not deserve to even be mentioned in the same sentence with the words Notre Dame.

Interesting, I wonder how many Irish fans agree with you, as bad as the team is playing. And considering this is the worst season in Irish history, it darn well better be the only one like this, I would think. I keep hearing from Notre Dame fans that Weis makes Gerry Faust look like a good coach, which is hardly praise for the job he's going. Are fans like the majority or the exception?

Guys, I am the new guy here. I am a 45 year long irish fan. I was born with it. I live near where Lou grew up, I love Notre Dame. I could go on and on. I fear for the legacy of our Lady. I have never ever seen things this bad. I was also a Ty blamer since CW got here.

I believe the first person to fire is AD White. Has he ever done anything right? If Notre Dame would fire Charlie now, we would NEVER be able to atract the best and THE BRIGHTESS in coaches, or in players.

Is it just me or have the best ND teams been made up of believers, not Five Star recruits? 93 epitomized the classic ND squad. Remember the name Stonebreaker? One of the greatest leaders ND EVER had, class of 1988. Yes, he knew he would never be an NFL star, but while at ND he was a leader, and a winner in life. Who is leading this program now? I feel sorry for John Carlson, he would have been much better off by opting for the 2007 draft.

I am very depressed over this. Some say, {Colin Cowherd}, that ND is finished. Gone the way of the likes of Yale, and Harvard, and Penn. Is this true? I pray to Our Lady that it is not.

Welcome aboard, Crusader1980 (Catholic Central grad, I take it?) and thanks for joining us. I'm afraid it's hard to predict the future of Notre Dame. Some programs, like Alabama as Tuck mentioned, came upon hard times and were able to rebound. Others, like Nebraska, are still searching for that old spark. I don't think Notre Dame's finished - still too many talented recruits want to play there. Heck, look at next year, where they get Mike Golic's kid, Paul Posluskny's brother and a stud QB out of California. They just need a coach who can put it all together. More team speed wouldn't hurt, either.

Lefty, you are spot on about CCHS. Another loss in the first round for the Crusaders, doesnt enhance this season and cutting into quality friends, food and adult bev's tailgating, there just is no excuse for that.!

We as ND fans have waited through four mistakes made by the powers at ND. Fr. Hesburgh knew just how important football is to this institution.

Keep losing and the endouwments strart to dry up.
