Yep...I don't think those standards apply to school like FSU etc... ...In a way, it's like Army or Air Force etc...where it's hell academically to get in, so good luck being highly competitive on the field.

Goth, the Irish were competitive in the past so why not now? They have more NC's than any other program and did it with their exceptional standards, didn't they?

most of nd's nc's where in years gone by.....things have changed...i'm sure nd still has exeptional standards , but do the other guys have the same????? army,af.& navy,have higher standards than all & how many nc's do they have?

Sal, you make a good point concerning things have changed. BTW, Army has won the NC a couple/few(?) times in the far distant past. Do you think they maintained their standards or raised them? If they are the same today as years ago then they should still be able to win a NC. I think, like the Irish, that talented recruits see other programs more attractive and feel that they can get a good education at a lot of other institutions. Not to mention, they really, as youngsters, care mostly about playing the game they love!
