| The University of Michigan-Notre Dame football rivalry is headed for hiatus when its current contract expires after the 2011 season. Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White said Oklahoma would replace Michigan on the Fighting Irish schedule for a two-year period, according to a story Saturday in the Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register. White, who spoke at a graduation in Alabama, pointed out that Notre Dame has signed a home-and-home agreement with three Big East schools, and has also begun the process of scheduling a game each season at a neutral site. It was announced last week that the Fighting Irish will play Washington State at San Antonio's Alamodome in 2009, and also play games in Orlando, Fla. in 2009 and 2011 against opponents who have yet to be named. | Re: Irish to play Oklahoma, not Michigan, in 2011 This is huge. On the one hand, I'm sad to see the Michigan series go on hiatus. But the Sooners will be a tough, tough opponent for the Fighting Irish. It should be a good game. I wonder if WVU will be one of the the Big East teams the Irish are set to play?

| Re: Irish to play Oklahoma, not Michigan, in 2011 Hard to say for sure four years away from the game, but the Sooners have been a very tough team under Stoops and I have no reason to believe they will be an easier opponent for the Wolverines. Equal, possibly, maybe even tougher. |
