LSU vs USC

Hello. This is my first post on this site.

The USC forum and the LSU forums are having big heated discussions about their respective teams. It starts with the National Championship in 2003, with my LSU folks saying we won the BCS National Championship and the trophy sits in Baton Rouge. The USC folks claim the National Championship because they ended up as #1 in the final AP poll.

To add to the fire are some comments from LSU's head coach, Les Miles, to the effect that he'd love to play USC for the National Championship this year but UCS would have an easier time getting there because the rest of the PAC 10 is not very good. I guess we'll all find out by the end of this season.

My question for Irish fans is, which of the two schools had the better team in 2006. Notre Dame is the only team to play both schools last year and I know the results are not pleasant for you. But, you all are people who can offer an objective opinion about 2006.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for you time and good luck in 2007.

Re: LSU vs USC

Welcome to the forum. Good question! I'd have to say that LSU was the better team. They were deeper and more talented on both sides of the ball, particularly on defense. The Tigers had the third ranked defense in the league; the Trojans were back at 20. LSU was ranked 11th in total offense in the NCAA, 10 spots ahead of Southern Cal there, too. So I think this is a pretty easy call to make on the whole.

Re: LSU vs USC

Notre Dame fans are the last place to look for a sujective view on USC. We will always know what their answer is going to be! That like asking Ohio State fans to be subjective when talking about Notre Dame and Michigan or Texas fans to comment on Nebraska-Oklahoma. With the long standing rivalry between Notre Dame and USC, it's hard to imagine no bias coming out of their answer.

PS, didn't Arkansas also play both teams last year? Why not ask some Razorback fans the same question?

Im a big fan of Notre-Dame and I still have to say the Trojans were stronger than the Tigers. They really beat us us down from the get go and we could never recover. As for the tigers, yeah they kicked our butt.. but if it wasnt for that 55 yarder at the end of the first half, the game would of been tied at 14 a piece. But from that point on it was all LSU i have to agree. also LSU looked very bad against Florida and auburn in their 2 loss... SC lost on the last play vs OSU and the game at the rose bowl was a fluke.... the obunce back and destroy michigan at that same venue....
My opinion
