| In his own words, Nick Saban said it. Right there in front of God and everybody at the Birmingham Rotary Club last week. He said he wants to play Notre Dame. The Alabama coach woke up some echoes with that one. Shouts of "Me, too!" rang out on campuses from Miami to Corvallis, Ore. What major college football coach doesn't want to play Notre Dame? The Golden Domers are the perfect non-conference opponent. Their name is bigger and badder than their game. What happens when you man up and fight the Irish? You get exposure. They get exposed. Consider that LSU, two years removed from Saban's guidance, embarrassed Notre Dame 41-14 in the last Sugar Bowl. Every AD in the SEC should've been on the phone to South Bend the next day. That game allowed Notre Dame to add to its impressive collection of college football records. Most Consecutive Bowl Defeats: Nine. Notre Dame hasn't won a postseason game in 13 years, since the 1994 Cotton Bowl. Seven of the nine straight defeats have come by two or more touchdowns. al.com: Everything Alabama Last edited by Lefty Noob : 07-16-2007 at 07:48 AM. |
