Chicago Daily Southtown, IL - Apr 22, 2007
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Running back Junior Jabbie has punched the clock for exactly 22 minutes, 30 seconds in an anonymous three-year career at Notre Dame.
Saturday the spotlight unexpectedly targeted him, and Jabbie basked in its glare.
Before a record crowd of 51,852, Jabbie darted for 87 yards on 13 carries to earn offensive MVP honors in the 78th annual Blue and Gold scrimmage.
Jabbie has yet to carry the football in an actual game, but welcomed the opportunity to help the Gold prevail 10-6.
"There's a lot of openings in our offense and I know the system," the 190-pound halfback from Parlin, N.J., said.
Jabbie had been overlooked until Darius Walker unexpectedly decided to bolt for the NFL.
"I don't want to talk about the past," snapped Jabbie, who switched from defense after his freshman year but spent most of the 2006 season on special teams. "I'm just looking forward to the future."
