Re: Evan Sharpley: ND Football and Baseball

Its never too early to start grooming a possible successor for Quinn, and this kid is #2 on the depth chart right now. Here's hoping he has a good spring with the football team, because while the article doesn't come out and say anything or show any of his stats, it sure hints that he really has no future as a baseball player.

Re: Evan Sharpley: ND Football and Baseball

I live in Sharpley's hometown and watched him in high school. It's amazing to think he could have the possibility of being a starter for the program. At the same time, I have never seen a high school kid throw like him.

Thumbs up Re: Evan Sharpley: ND Football and Baseball

Today I was at ND's Blue/Gold game. I had breakfast with the team before the game. One player is at each table for the breakfast and Evan Sharpley was the player at my table. He seems to be a bright young man, really down to earth, and easy going. We did talk football, among other things but he even talk about how important his school work is important to him at ND. Enjoyed my time with him.

During the game he got 95% of his teams reps. He looked great! Completed almost all of his passes, made a couple of tough throws standing tall in the pocket, and one beautiful fade ball to a reciver down the sidelines for a big completion. He scrambled for some good yardage as well avoiding the sack and makeing something out of nothing. Some of them where biggies in 3 and long situations. The looked very poised in the pocket. After all its only spring!

This is the first time I have ever heard, or seen him play. I am glad I got the oppourtunity to do so, he is a bright kid with a good future at ND. Look forward to watching him play in the season's to come.

Re: Evan Sharpley: ND Football and Baseball

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Jason, and thanks for coming on to share your story and your scouting report of Sharpley!

Definitely seems like the Irish are set at QB for a while, what with Quinn this year, then Sharpley, then eventually that incoming freshman Clausen. Any other observations about the Blue-Gold game you might be willing to share with us? How's the running attack? The defense? Any other standout players?

Re: Evan Sharpley: ND Football and Baseball

Well, Sharpley didn't start today's game, but he's in now and he's led the Irish to some points against Georgia Tech. Still a long way to go, though... think the kid can bring the Irish all the way back in the 2007 season opener?
