Yep. Clausen probably knew coming in there were dues to pay...look at most of the top QBs at top schools, few start their first season because of the talent in front of them.

I understand the desire to use him like Florida did Tim Tebow last year, but I'd hate to waste a year of eligibility for a gimmicky role.

Re: Irish QB race down to three

i think they will have a system some what like North Carolina's last Year switch off every 2 drives for the the first half and if one is better than the other he plays the second and they stay the same same system they could do that with Sharply and Claussen

Re: Irish quarterback battle

It appears that Zach Frazier is going to transfer. What makes me say that is his name has popped up on a sports message board related to the Hawaii Warriors.

Of course I had to jump all over that. I thought Frazier was a legitimate contender to start for the Fighting Irish this season. It looks like he won't even be on the team.

Re: Irish quarterback battle

Still no word as to whether it will be Sharply, Clausen or Jones starting.

"I certainly don't want to tell Georgia Tech what I'm doing because I'd rather they spent more time having to figure: Are they going to play a true drop-back quarterback? Are they going to play an athletic quarterback?" coach Charlie Weis says in an article on Post-Gazette.com. "I'm not really in the business of giving out free information."

However, he did add "If the competition weren't as close as it was, I would have already said who it was."

The suspense is killing me. Who will replace Brady Quinn as Notre Dame's quarterback?

Yep...the Irish lost a lot of starters ...and they are rebuilding (sort of) so why waste a year of Claussen right now?

Re: Irish quarterback battle

Claussen should start Even Sharply should come or couple drives to spell Claussen every once and a while
