The USC vs. Notre Dame Celebrity Golf Charity Weekend was created with one vision: to raise much needed funds for several important causes... The goal of the event, which is to be held at the beautiful Pacific Palms Resort in Southern California, is to provide financial support for students who have the dream, drive and desire of a higher education. The recipients of the awards will be given the opportunity to attend Notre Dame or the University of Southern California.

In addition to the scholastic awards, donations will be made to the USC/Norris Cancer Hospital and the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation.

Cool idea! According to this press release, among those who have already committed to playing are Dave Casper, Sam "Bam" Cunningham, Mike Garrett, Jerome Heavens, Luther Bradley, Joey Browner, Ross Browner, and Rudy Ruettiger. I can just see Ruettiger going for par on the 18th hole when out of the crowd, the chant begins, "Roo-dee! Roo-dee! Roo-dee!"
