When Mike Brey took over the Notre Dame basketball program in July 2000, then-Irish football coach Bob Davie greeted him on campus. Seventeen months later, Brey welcomed George O'Leary just as warmly when Davie was fired. After O'Leary's five-day tenure, Tyrone Willingham arrived, and Brey was among the first to extend a hand.

By the time he met Charlie Weis, who replaced Willingham in 2004, Brey had made small talk with so many Notre Dame football coaches he started feeling a little like Keith Jackson.

When I used to gamble, I used to really be on top of college hoops. But since I stopped gambling, I sort of stopped following it. I started to pay a little attention toward the conference tournaments but pretty much my whole brackets are all guesswork.

That's why I only invest $35 because I always take some chances. The year UConn beat Duke, I won the whole thing that year. I took UConn that year for the same reason I took Notre Dame this year. A Big East Team and a guess.....Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
