Re: 2007 Notre Dame Football Schedule

Did anyone in their right mind think the Irish could start 0-4?

Well, I did hear someone (forget who, though) say they could start 1-7 or 1-8.

But as tough a schedule as this was, I fully expected them to be at least .500 after four games.

Southbend 1, that's the rub with the Irish. They live in the past. The past is the past and tradition is great, especially that of ND, but they are softening up their schedule and playing "cupcakes" and still want the recognition they garnered in the past. It just isn't happening anymore. Most fans know there are dozens of programs out there better than the Irish presently. And, better than ND has been over the past decade and a half. Incidentally, that why there is so much aniomosity towards ND because even though they don't deserve it most years they get invited to a major Bowl. This most people contribute to their hugh fan base and the money they bring to the table and not to the quality of the Irish football program. BTW, the best catholic program in the US is Boston College and they have proven that on the field against ND numerous times in this decade.
