Nine Football Student-Athletes Apply For Fifth Year :: Nine players include 2006 co-captains Travis Thomas and Tom Zbikowski.
Nine members of the Notre Dame football team have apllied to Notre Dame's Faculty Board on Athletics for a fifth year at the University, Fighting Irish Head Coach Charlie Weis announced Thursday, Jan. 11."Recently I addressed the issue of the fifth-year process," said Weis. "The nine players who have applied for a fifth year are: Co-captains Tom Zbikowski and Travis Thomas, John Carlson, John Sullivan, Trevor Laws, Dwight Stephenson, Joe Brockington, Ambrose Wooden and Geoff Price."

Well, if Tommy Z does come back, I hope he gets health and plays better than he did down the stretch this year. Carlson is a surprise, because I though he was ranked pretty highly among tight end prospects. So what do you think of these guys attempting to return for a fifth year? Should they? Will they get the extra year of eligibility?
