Post Charlie Weis Sugar Bowl Press Conference

Up to the minute news about the Notre Dame football team.

Quote:
Charlie Weis Press Conference Transcript (Dec. 19) :: Irish head coach breaks down the Jan. 3 matchup with LSU.
COACH CHARLIE WEIS: "LSU, well, the thing that really concerns me about LSU... they've outscored their opponents in every quarter this season, but the first quarter is the one I'm worried about probably the most because they've outscored their opponents 122 to 20 in the first quarter, so that's over 100 points more than their opponents... As we know in the couple games that we've lost, we've gotten behind early in the game and tried to climb back into it and weren't able to do that, and I think that we have to make sure we avoid that pitfall in this game or else we'll be in for a long night."

Re: Charlie Weis Sugar Bowl Press Conference

I really think the ND defense has to have in mind "bend but don't break." No big plays, keep everything in front of them. Watch for screens and reverses, just don't give up big plays. First downs happen, but let Russell make mistakes. I think as long as they can do that, they will keep the game low scoring and have a chance.....

Russell's definitely the key. Can they disrupt him with pressure schemes, force him into those mistakes? Because given time, I think the LSU receivers will get open, and he's definitely proven he can find the open receiver.
