Jeff Samardzija Named Football Writers Association of America First Team All-American :: The senior wide receiver, also a first team All-American in 2005, was the only repeat selection.
Notre Dame senior wide receiver Jeff Samardzija was named to the 63rd Annual Football Writers Association of America All-America Team on Saturday. Samardzija was the only repeat first team All-American on the squad.

Samardzija is the first Notre Dame player to win first-team All-American honors in consecutive years since 1993-94. You guys remember who that was? It was Bobby Taylor. Hard to believe it's been that long... anyway, what do you think of Samardzija winning the honor. Was he worthy?

No...he is a reflection of Mr. Quinn...not so sure he is the real deal...but I could be wrong...

I think like Quinn, Samadrzjia is a talent helped out by Coach Weis. Think about it, this guy played little his first two years, but all of a sudden against Pitt next year makes a big catch and steps into the spotlight. I think he is a 6'5 receiver, he has good hops, and he has great body control to make some great catches. I think he is the real deal, a Matt Jones with more speed and agility. I think he atleast deserves 2nd Team All-American status if not 1st Team, congrats Jeff....
