If you were to compile a list of the greatest Notre Dame football games ever, what would be your top five?

1) Notre Dame vs Miami - Oct 15, 1988 - ND 31 UM 30
Jimmy Johnson finally got what was coming to him, going for two and missing as his number one Miami fell in Notre Dame Stadium.

2) Notre Dame vs. Florida State - Nov 13, 1993 - ND 31 FSU 24
The game of the centruy in my mind, #1 vs #2, all the hype, Lee Corso's first ever College Gameday pick (of FSU by the way), an FSU fan even got so mad that after the game he drove his car into the library.

3) Notre Dame vs Oklahoma - Nov 16, 1957 - ND 7 OU 0
The game that ended the Oklahoma win streak at 47 at Owen Field in Norman, enough said.

4) Notre Dame vs. USC - Oct 22, 1977 - ND 49 USC 19
The famous "Green Jersey" Game, the Trojan Horse the students built, an eventual National Title.

5) Notre Dame vs Michigan State - Nov 19, 1966 - ND 10 MSU 10
The 10-10 tie, a controversial decision by Ara Parseghian to take the tie, but another National Title for Notre Dame at the end of the year.

Just left off the list, Notre Dame vs USC - Oct 15, 2005 - ND 31 USC 34
A great game but, frankly, I'm still bitter because of the loss....

There are my five, any thoughts?

Great list, domer. All great games. The win over Miami was certainly thrilling, and in terms of historical significance, the 1957 win over Oklahoma was quite possibly the most shocking win, if only because no one ever thought that Sooners team would lose. Last year's game was, as you say, amazing too, but it was a Notre Dame loss. How about the 1928 game against Army?

The 1928 Army game was "Win One For The Gipper" game
wasn't it? Another famous Army game was 1946 with both
teams undefeated and Army defending National champs from
1944 & 1945. It ended in a 0-0 tie and one sportswriter
paraphrased Shakespeare "Much Ado About Nothing To
Nothing"!

Has everyone forgotten Notre Dame over Alabama on New Year's Eve of 1973? Notre Dame 24-Alabama 23 for the National Championship. Tom Clements to Robin Weber to get them out of the shadow of their own goal posts and ice the game on 3rd and long with a little over two minutes left. The greatest college game I ever saw..

That picture of him taken from the back of the end zone where you completely get the idea of what Clements was up against, nothing like it! That was a great game! Man the 70s where just a solid decade for Notre Dame sports eh?!
