North Carolina at Notre Dame

The Tar Heels are 1-7 on the season and winless on the road. The Fighting Irish are 7-1, ranked #11 in the country and feature one of the best quarterbacks in college football right now. Everything's pointing towards a big Notre Dame win here, and for once, I'm going to go with the flow and NOT put the Irish on upset alert. They roll over UNC, 35-3.

Re: North Carolina at Notre Dame

This game isn't likely to be competitive. Notre Dame should win very comfortably, probably on the order of 42-7 or thereabouts.

Re: North Carolina at Notre Dame - Irish Update

Man, I wish I had broadband. I'd love to see them break down the Navy tape!

Anyway... yeah, I agree chsbletz. The Irish are finally clicking on all thrusters offensively, and while the Tar Heels had a good game against Wake Forest, they still lost. Plus, I really don't see them as being able to put forth that kind of effort two weeks in a row.

I couldn't get the video to launch. Not sure if it's a paid subscription thing or if the url doesn't work right.

hi B58, welcome to GoTeamsGo

So any thoughts about the game or just wanted to let us know where we could find some cool ND merchandise?

Re: North Carolina at Notre Dame

North Carolina barely is able to put up a fight at Notre Dame and it will be a long, uninteresting beatdown by the Irish. All these games for Quinn and company are just a bridge to the Southern Cal game where their BCS Bowl hopes rest.

Irish get themselves some Tarheels for dinner, 34-6.

Re: North Carolina at Notre Dame

Well, Notre Dame wins, 45-26, which I'm sure is a lot closer final score than most of us predicted. The Irish defense just does not look that good, even against inferior competition. UNC QB Joe Dailey threw for 3 TDs against the Notre Dame secondary. Fortunately for them, they have Brady Quinn on the offensive side of the ball to throw for 350 yards and 4 TDs to bail them out. I shudder to think what a team like USC's going to do to these guys if the D doesn't improve drastically.

Post North Carolina at Notre Dame - AP Recap

Here's the AP recap of Notre Dame's 45-26 win over the Tar Heels

Quote:
Quinn Leads Irish Past Tar Heels :: QB throws four touchdowns in 45-26 win.
Nov. 4, 2006

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Brady Quinn passed for four touchdowns and a season-high 346 yards to help No. 11 Notre Dame overcome breakdowns on defense and special teams and beat North Carolina 45-26 Saturday.

It appeared for a while the Fighting Irish would put the game away early, breaking a 7-7 tie with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal to move ahead 24-7. But the Irish gave up a 90-yard kickoff return by Brandon Tate and a 72-yard touchdown catch by Hakeem Nicks as the Tar Heels kept it respectable.
They gave up a kickoff return TD, eh? Looks like Coach Weis had cause to be concerned about that North Carolina special teams unit after all. So what do you guys think about the Irish's performance on Saturday?
