Re: Notre Dame vs UCLA

Well, more than anything, I think that Charlie Weis should have started the use the rollout much earlier. Notre Dame ran a couple of Quinn bootleg passes on the last drive, and it would've been effective all game for getting him away from the pass rush. But yeah, the line was definitely at fault, and the playcalling. I'm being too hard on Quinn here. He did the best he could given the circumstances, but I still don't see him as the #1 overall pick.

Well neither were Favre, Brady, Marino, and Leinart..and perhaps they should have been...the kid seems to have an NFL future ahead.

The Bruins defense wasn't as aggressive on that last drive, and with the extra time, Quinn was able to march the Irish down the field and score. Believe me, he's no Troy Smith.
Actually, you overlooked something else here. It wasn't Brady that caused the offense struggle in that game. Why?

It's the OFFENSE LINEMEN who weren't protecting that good so that added the pressure on Brady most of the time. You couldn't miss that throughout the game.

UCLA did well to pressure on him cuz they saw how weak his offense line has shown before the game even. I was just glad that they got by that last great play to savor the game.

Whenever Brady has a great protection from the offense line whether at ND or in the pros he can play great lke other great ones, eventually. Pro scouts do even know better than that what you acussed Brady of his poor play. So that's why they rate him one of top NFL draft players.

... you'll see I point out that I was being too hard on Quinn. But more than the O-line, I think its a combo of great scheme by UCLA and poor playcalling by Weis and his staff. The rollout should've been used more often, and utilizing screens, draws and play-actions better would've helped slow down that rush.

Oh, and welcome to GoTeamsGo, GreenGold. Thanks for joining us!

Thanks, dude, winks.

There is a NFL Mock Draft 2007 at NFL Draft Countdown - 2007 NFL Mock Draft

Yes, Brady leads the crop... But I hope he wouldn't be the no. 1 draft player because Raiders may be the team to choose him.
Ah no, I hope not, but long a ways to go and see how it turns out later on.
