Notre Dame vs Purdue

What's going to happen at the Notre Dame vs Purdue football game on Saturday?

Purdue has an undefeated record as Notre Dame comes to the game at 3-1.

The Boilermakers have put up some big numbers on offense but they're also giving up 29 points per game. I'm thinking this is a high scoring affair. Purdue just won't be able to keep up with the Fighting Irish.

My pick for Notre Dame vs Purdue: Irish 45 Boilermakers 27

Re: Notre Dame vs Purdue

I think you're right on the money Ross! It's going to be a long afternoon for the Purdue defense. I'd like to see the Irish D play better though. In the last two quarters against MSU they put the clamps on and came up with some huge plays. Anybody think the Irish D has turned the corner?

Confidence Builder

Alot of positive aspects for ND fans yesterday. Establishing the run really seemed to open things up. The offensive line was protecting well and getting a good surge. Brady Quinn was sharp. Rhema McKnight looks impossible to stop one on one. And the defense played pretty good, even though they gave up a ton of yards. Irish should move back into the top ten easily this week---

Re: Confidence Builder

Sorry, but I just don't think they should be a top ten team. They surrendered nearly 400 yards of passing offense and 500 yards of total offense to an unranked Purdue team, not to mention that they team they struggled with last week, Michigan State, just suffered an embarrassing loss to Illinois. I know a lot of the college football pundits came away unimpressed with their performance, and those are the guys who decide this whole thing, so I just don't see them moving up.

Re: Confidence Builder

I definitely agree that the Irish gave up a ton of total yards and need to do a lot of work on the defensive side of the ball in the coming weeks, but I look for them to be much improved by the time they face UCLA and USC at the end of the season. They are already making the changes and working some different guys in. But since Va. Tech lost, and Georgia barely beat Ole Miss, the voters should at least move the Irish up two spots in the rankings to the 10th spot this week, shouldn't they?

Re: Confidence Builder

Whatever happens on the field, their schedule sure is pretty easy leading up to the Southern Cal game. They could run the table, lose to SC and still get a good bowl game with just two losses.

Brady Quinn should be able to beat up on the weaker defenses along the way and get back into rhythm.
