Notre Dame - Michigan State game

Gut check time for the Irish, as they try to avoid getting swept by Wolverine State schools by beating the Michigan State Spartans tomorrow. Sounds like Charlie Weis has been coachin' 'em up pretty good. "They've owned us," the Irish coach told the Associated Press today. "You're playing them on the road Saturday night. If that doesn't get your attention, then you're not a competitor." I think they may be on upset alert this week, guys. What do you Notre Dame fans think about this game?

Re: Notre Dame - Michigan State game

As a fan, I am very concerned about the game. The Irish need to put last week behind them and bounce back, and it's up to Brady Quinn and Darius Walker to lead the way and get a win. The season is on the line. I'd like to see the Irish run the ball impressively, control the clock, keep MSU offense off the field and avoid mistakes. Irish need to find a way to win like they did against Georgia Tech.

Re: Notre Dame - Michigan State game

You have good reason for that concern. According to the AP, "The Michigan-Notre Dame game usually gets more publicity, but it's Michigan State that has won seven of the last nine against the Fighting Irish -- including an overtime win last season that was Charlie Weis' first setback as Notre Dame coach." Ouch. So why do the Spartans seem to have the Irish's number?

I don't know, but they really seem to! I just hope it ends tonight!! I really would like to see the Irish try to establish the run early--how is the MSU defense?

Wow, what happened? I tune in at the end of the first quarter and the Spartans are leading 17-0.

What's happening to Charlie Weis' Irish in 06?

Re: Notre Dame - Michigan State game

How exactly does a coach/administrator from Notre Dame grab a MSU player and physically move him during a game??? There was no call but no coach should ever... I repeat ever, put his hands on a player.

Re: Notre Dame - Michigan State game

What a spectaular finish for everyone except Michigan State & their fans!

The defense really stepped it up in the middle of the 4th quarter and turned the game around. Brady Quinn really wasn't impressive until then either.

Great comeback Irish

The Michigan State playcalling stunk down the stretch, and really, their loss was a forgone conclusion the way they played during the second half. Yes, nice comeback from the Irish, but the Spartans blew this one, really.

Boy, what a debacle that game was. I had my prime upset of the week in hand, and MSU decides that they don't know to run out the clock. What a jip!
