Remember Notre Dame is still an academic institution. Unlike most of the teams in the top 20. I'll tell ya what.... I bet if the good folks at Missouri mail in a check along with their teams players SAT scores and if they average over 1,200... Touch down Jesus will consider letting you guys get some TV time. In 2014. |

Notre Dame prefers to play a portion of their schedule against schools that still stress academics OVER athletics... Schools such as Navy (or another armed forces military school), Purdue, Boston College ect. I mean college is really about education isn't it? |

| Re: Navy at Notre Dame Saturday 11/7 Notre Dame played Purdue (just beat Ohio State) and Washington (beat USC), and in the past we played teams like Tennessee and other teams. Notre Dame has certain games they play, tradition, and then they we play anyone outside of those games. But you have to remember hey have the next 4 years teams set, so it is hard to guess which teams will be good in 5 yeas from now so hey can try to schedule them. Pit isn't bad this year so that will help with a better team on the schedule. Just remember a lot of other teams don't go outside their region a lot. Georgia just now went to OSU, Ohio State and Texas just started to play each other, a lot of PAC-10 teams don't come east much and ACC teams don't go west. I think with the BCS so messed up teams will start to so they can say they played better teams but they can only pick those better teams off tradition because they don't know who will be the hot team in 4-5 years down the road. |

| Re: Navy at Notre Dame Saturday 11/7 Navy 23, (22) Notre Dame 21Navy scores second straight victory in South Bend SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Navy's second consecutive victory at Notre Dame Stadium didn't produce the same euphoria for the Midshipmen as the last one. Just another win as far Navy was concerned -- though this loss to the Midshipmen was much more costly for Notre Dame. Craig Schaefer sacked Jimmy Clausen in the end zone with 60 seconds left Saturday and Navy held on for a 23-21 victory, its second in three seasons against the Fighting Irish (No. 22 BCS, No. 19 AP). "I wanted to run on the field and jump up and down, but I was kind of tired," said linebacker Ram Vela, who had an interception and fumble recovery. "We'd done it before and we went into this game not really placing as much emphasis or too much importance on it. We just treated it like another game." Navy scores second straight victory in South Bend - NCAA College Football Recap - ESPN Very tough loss for the Notre Dame Irish. Sorry Irish fans, with this loss, it is unlikely the Irish will make a BCS bowl game. Hey, I think any bowl game this season is a positive for the Irish this season. Great win for the Navy Midshipmen on the road!
