Brady Quinn vs Anthony Morelli

Good article by the AP comparing ND QB Brady Quinn and PSU QB Anthony Morelli.

Quinn, Morelli face different expectations Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports
By TOM COYNE, AP Sports Writer
September 6, 2006

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Anthony Morelli completed 50 percent of his passes for 206 yards. Brady Quinn completed 61 percent of his passes for 246 yards.

Morelli was widely praised. Quinn was widely panned. The difference: expectations.

Morelli, making his first career start at Penn State, did better than hoped, throwing three touchdowns with no interceptions in leading the No. 19 Nittany Lions to a 34-16 victory over Akron.

Quinn, tagged by some as the preseason Heisman favorite, led a struggling Notre Dame offense and failed to throw a touchdown pass as the fourth-ranked Fighting Irish (1-0) escaped with a 14-10 win over Georgia Tech. Talk followed about how it might hurt his chances for the Heisman.
Which of these quarterbacks, Quinn or Morelli, has the better game on Saturday?

Re: Brady Quinn vs Anthony Morelli

No question about it. Brady Quinn will bounce back from the GT game. expect us to throw a lot vs PSU cuz they have such a tough group of lbs, and tallented but green db's. Quinn will have a monster game and shut all the doubters up.

Re: Brady Quinn vs Anthony Morelli

But if I may play devil's advocate here, Morelli has some nice receivers too, led by Derrick Williams, and the Notre Dame secondary still hasn't proven to me that they're all that great. So even if Quinn puts up big numbers, which he most likely will, Morelli and the Penn State offense might be able to keep pace with Notre Dame.

Morelli is gonna have it a lot different this week--it's not Akron at home, so he better be ready. Supposedly he is not that mobile--he might be a sitting duck on a blitz. I think the Irish might come after him!

Re: Brady Quinn vs Anthony Morelli

Ha ha... I guess this one wasn't even close!

Quinn went 25-for-36 for 288 yards (69.4%), 3 TDs, 0 INTs.
Morelli went 21-for-33 for 191 yards (63.6%), 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 lost fumble.

Brady Quinn won this QB match-up going away, didn't he?
