Irish Defense

I know the final numbers from the Ga. Tech game look very impressive, but is the defense going to be better this year?

Re: Irish Defense

I'm withholding judgment either way. They looked a little better against Tech, but there were still concerns - can't say I liked the way that they handled a big-time receiving threat, and the safeties were having to make way too many tackles, especially early on. This D could still be in trouble when the start facing more potent offenses. We'll see.

Re: Irish Defense

Excellent point about the safeties--it seemed like they were making ALL of the tackles. Anybody got any tackling stats, I'd like to see how many the DL and backers were credited with--?

Re: Irish Defense

The only stat I care about is that we gave up only 10 points on the road in our 1st game of the season

Re: Irish Defense

You are right, that is really what matters. In any event, together the two safeties made a strong statement. How bout the huge hit Chinedum Ndukwe put on Johnson? And Tom Z. with his mohawk was all over the place--the Irish have a pair of warriors as their last line of defense, what do you think?
