Wildcats need rally to avoid upset

It was an uphill struggle but, with forward Kevin Coble and point guard Michael Thompson doing most of the pushing and shoving, Northwestern got over the hump.

Surmounting an eight-point deficit with 15 minutes 21 seconds left, the Wildcats defeated Texas-Pan American 68-59 in their last non-conference game of the season Wednesday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Coble scored 15 of his 29 points and Thompson got 14 of his 18 during the second-half rally that ended the Broncos' winning streak at seven games.
