| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat According to this preview of the Tar Heels football season, it looks as though North Carolina coach John Bunting may be in trouble. "The team does have some winnable early games, including the season-opener against Rutgers and a mid-September clash with Furman at home," the story claims. "However, those games are each followed by tough affairs, including Virginia Tech, at Clemson and at Miami. A chance to build some momentum may never materialize... Reaching .500 this year may be a stretch and anything less may result in a coaching change." So, what do you think? Will this wind up being Bunting's last season with UNC?

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat Let me start by saying UNC is not a football school, we are Power house BBall school. Now I think the Fball could do better yes, but we have to give it time. FSU and other powers in Fball took time to build and we have to give Bunting time and for someone to say we need to get a real coach needs to find a new school to cheer for. When Mack Brown was here we had better players. We were ranked in the top 15 recruiting every year. It took Mack Brown a long time to win at UNC. Don't forget Mack Brown had 5 loosing seasons, inclueded in that were 2 0-10 seasons. So get off the back of UNC football and Bunting's back give him time and he will win, but keep in mind that we are not a Fball school. We are UNC a Basketball power house and that will always be the case! |

Good points on NC is a basketball school. What football record do you think will satisfy most Tarheels this year? Look forward to chatting with you.

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat For the record, I have two degrees from UNC-CH and have been a fan for about 40 years. I think that Bunting needs at least a 6 and 5 season to keep the heat off of him. That may not be enough... The loss to Rutgers was huge. The Va Tech loss is was expected. I don't really see why UNC can't have a strong football program to go with our top notch basketball program. Other schools can handle both... Look at UCLA and Michigan I hope Bunting can turn things around but I'm not sure the Rams club is going to wait much longer before pushing for a replacement. UNC should have kept Mack Brown and gave him what he wanted and needed.... Go Heels |

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat I think UNC will have to deal with going 7-4 and going to a bowl every other year if not every year. People think if you build a great place they will come and that is not ture, The buttom line is it will take time and I am a UNC grade and I think we are still 5 to 7 years away from being a every year bowl team. | I'm a grad also with my MBA from the HILL 1st UCLA & MICH, untill last year UCLA football & basketball was lost, so please try someone else. Michigan will always be a football school, with some good years in basketball, but that doesn't make them a power in both sports. It is very hard in todays world to have both. We are a Power in Basketball, Basketball starts and ends in the state on NC, just be happy that our school is a power in something. Unlike some other schools in the ACC! The Ram Club needs to shut up, and let man coach! Quote:

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat Regarding the response from Gatarheel: I would like to see an 8-3 or even a 7-4 team at this point and I hope that you are right... It just looks like we may go 4-7 but I sure hope it's much better... I live close to Blacksburg and the grief will be rough on Monday from those guys............ |

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat ofcourse we have 12 games this year. 4-8 looks like most likely. bunting has 2 key games he has to win to save job. furman next week (even a close win will be viewed negatively) and state. you know the guy is doing some good things but hiring assistants has not been one of them. Tenuta should have been kept at all costs, but i understand being a wahoo he did not like chapel hill. I hope they give him at least 1 more year after this (amato will be gone after this year and this will help recruiting this state). that will not happen if the heels tank to 3-9 or worse. |

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat Well I agree, he must win, but i think 4-7 will keep him on the Hill. He has at least 2 more years. But do you think we will be a power f-ball school? We can go to bowls games but win titles every year. Come on, I will take our Power B-ball over building a Power F-ball program that may and may not win. |

| Re: John Bunting on the hotseat to gatarheel: why not a power f'ball progarm? I look at V. Tech and wonder why not us. (and please do not interject character of athlete into this debate ie: Marcus Vick, else I counter with Miktar Djai, Forte, McCants.....). it will not be too long bfore they close in the east end zone and effectively add 9,000 more seats. That pushes capacity close to 70,000 at Kenan. Can you imagine a couple of gator bowls, a bcs bowl and 3-4 years of finishing in the top 15? Chapel Hill will be absolutely rocking on fall saturdays. even that idiot lou corso will have to do a show there. Now Gatarheel, my tarheel brother, I am as passionate about tarheel basketball as you. growing up there attended scores of games at carmichael, a few in the Dean Dome, even some ACC tournaments in G'boro and Charlotte. But a few years ago a friend of mine took me to a Tenn./Fla. game in Knoxville. 100,00+ fans in the pouring rain. Unlike anything I have experienced in spectator sports. You shoulda been there. |
