Smile Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

Kylegoheels,

I understand what you are saying and it would be nice to have both, but name a school that has both. I mean a power football and Basketball school, I mean I know some that get lucky like UF with a power football team and a once in a while basketball team that wins it all. But this is not happing year in and year out. I think we can win and will one day but the state on a whole is a basketball state, it basketball or nothing at every school in NC. Where as in Texas & Florida it's football baby all day every day. If basketball does well okay, but what about the football team, people say.

The Hill has built a great place to have a winning team every year, I look at our program and see us in the same light as W.V. They have okay years and go to a bowl and then they have 2 great years and try to win it all, but it took time. I hope one day the hill is rocking on a gameday show and we making a title run.

Cool Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

UNC should be able to build a football program that generate a strong team at least every three to four years. If Bunting can't make that happen, then someone else will get the job done.....

I hope he succeeds........

Just curious - who would you want that someone else to be? What about Ohio's Frank Solich?

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

i dont know anything about Solich. the Heels have walked that conference's path before (Dick Crum). i know it is a hotbed for upwardly mobile, talented coaches but i believe it is because they develop Systems and are only able to recruit lesser athletes that fit those systems ( see Wake ). these coaches spring some upsets now and then and play bigger schools tight but in a bcs conference would fare no better than average on a year to year basis ( which is just fine and dandy for Wake ). Carolina missed its chance to secure a Hall of Famer and climb to elite status when Fla. got assy with Superior and he went South of the Border. Ofcourse the timing was wrong and no way could you boot Bunting after 3 years.....but.... . Here is something i truly believe. Frank Beamer is grinning like a chesire cat with 4-5 canaries in each big jowl. You let the Heels get rid of Bunting and state get rid of amato, which is probably gonna happen (listen at him squeel), and recruiting in this state belongs to the hokies.....FOR YEARS. I say keep Bunting. Let him figure out how to recognize and hire good assistants, and eventually we will win big. Hopefully this thing happens in my lifetime.

Cool Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

Well a three point win over Furman is nothing to cheer about. The hot seat may be warming up a little more.... Let's hope the Heels start improving on both Offense and Defense.......

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

but it is a win, 13. I am thinking bunting is old school. does not relate. 2003 recruiting class was one of the best in school Hx. U wanta know how many of the 23 recruits are still on the team? 9! (NINE!). Whatever. Given time maybe the B-man can resurrect this program to average. Best we can hope for probably. Doggone shame. Fans deserve better. Hey, I went to a college game saturday night. Western Carolina VS East Kentucky in Cullowhee, N.C. . Exciting game. Catamounts were the underdogs, E. Kentucky ranked in division II. Cats win with courage 'cause they were clearly less atheletic. 8,0000 fans going crazy. Had fun. Tickets cost $14 ( $28 for my son and I). You like college football? Dont let it hinge on the heelbones. Find a college game nearby and enjoy!

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

Kyle,
I know what you mean about other games. the big deal hear is Virginia Tech but I am not a fan of their program. Athletics is favored way too much over education. The kids have one to one tudors so they do none of the work.
I may have settle for high school football around here.
UVA isn't doing any better than the Heels.....

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

Well I have been behind J.B. and I still am but I have to say not that I am a little upset with the state of our program. Now I know so of you have been really hard on the team and coaches but they are trying and thank God we are not as bad as Dook. But going to the the games and being around the team I must say that no one is happy with the New Off. and they have lost faith. J.B. must show improvement or things will get worst.

Thank God he played Cam Sexton and I think it was a smart move and now he is going to play more younger players with speed. It's about time. I am not upset with loosing but the way we are loosing is not good and this will cost J.B. his job.

But Basketball is coming and payback is so sweet

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

gatarheel,
save that diss against dooky. we have to play them in durham last game of the season and they may have a better record and be far more motivated. their 1 point loss to wake at winston-salem is a far better performance than Carolina has exhibited so far. now, u seem frothing for the roundball to start. all in time. first of all b-ball is a game, albeit a great thing to look forward to on a cold night during the useless month of february ; a football saturday however is an Event! and this year's roundball prospects...... too much talent and not enough leadership. the Heels will miss Noel a bunch. my prediction: Heels split 1-1 against dooky, finish 2nd in the regular season (Ga. Tech finishes 1st, dooky 3rd), win ACC tourny, finish 6 or 7th nationally ranked, get a #2 seed in some regional, loose in the regional finals. remember national champion Fla. has everybody comming back, UCLA is loaded, Ohio State is loaded, Kansas will be awesome. the Heels however will roll 2007-2008.

Re: John Bunting on the hotseat

I have to diss the Dook, but I hope they win a game as long as it doesn't come against us. I think Unc will get 6 games this year and J.B. will be back because he will beat a big team and will get to stay.

Now B-Ball, think we have a great chance to win it all next year, We will David Noel, but I think leadership will not be a problem on the team. That has never been a problem on a R-Will team. Yes UF has all 5 back but that is going to be hard when every game people will be bringing there best night in and not out. But the OSU and UNC in the Big Ten Vs, ACC will be great.

I went to that game Saturday and I have never been so embarrassed in my life. We really need a great coach. We have the players and the athletes. Is there anyone out there?
