Coach Butch Davis named the starting quarterback for the opening game against James Madison. He named T.J. Yates who is a RS freshman to that position. He is 6'-3" and 205 lbs, pretty mobile, can throw on the move, and has a nice arm. In the spring game he was 10-15 with 163 yards and 3 td's.

The word is that he will be the starter until Mike Paulus is ready. But Paulus in an interview with insidecarolina.com said that he realized that he was not ready and that he thought he could come in and claim the job but he now realizes there is a lot to learn.
