CHAPEL HILL -- For three straight years, North Carolina's season ended in the same disappointing fashion -- with NCAA tournament losses to eventual College World Series foe South Carolina.
This time, the Tar Heels are determined not to allow the Gamecocks to bring another promising year to a premature finish.
"Before, there were kind of guys who would say, 'Here we go again,'" pitcher Robert Woodard said Thursday. "But this year it's more 'Bring it on.' We understand (that) to get where we want to get to, we have to go through the best, and we're prepared."
Border rivals North Carolina [51-12] and South Carolina [45-18] -- which meet in a best-of-three super regional series that begins tonight -- are anything but strangers when it comes to meeting in the postseason.
