| North Carolina, fresh off its ACC Tournament championship, earned the highest overall seed for ACC members, No. 3. The Tar Heels, who lost to Oregon State in last year's World Series title game, have four stellar starting pitchers and one of the nation's top closers. The rotation is loaded with quality righties, with Adam Warren (10-0 record, 2.09 ERA), Robert Woodard (9-2, 3.29), Alex White (6-4, 3.35) and Luke Putkonen (7-1, 4.23) giving the Heels a bevy of options across the weekend. Closer Andrew Carignan has been close to unhittable this season, picking up 13 saves with a 1.20 ERA while striking out 54 in 45 innings and holding opponents to a .176 batting average. The lineup features seven players with .300-plus averages and includes super freshman Dustin Ackley (.437, 63 RBI). Former North Henderson standout Seth Williams has pieced together his third straight solid campaign for UNC in right field, batting .288 with eight dingers and 36 RBI. He hit .321 in ACC action this year. The Tar Heels (48-12) will host two at-large bids from North Carolina, East Carolina (39-21) and Western Carolina (40-18 ), and Atlantic Sun champs Jacksonville (34-26).
