Re: Tyler Hansbrough Skips NBA Draft

He is the one exception that can actually improve his draft status if he stays an extra year. This is rare for college players of his caliber this year. Since this upcoming draft is expected to be one of the weakest in history (don't know if it can go lower than the 2000 or 2001 draft, but we'll see) many of the obvious/borderline potential NBA players were expected to leave college early (even more so than usual) so they won't have to compete with the 06-07 freshman class. But Hanbrough will actually improve his draft status by returning. Even if he doesn't he will certainly be more prepared for The NBA if he waits an extra year. If he left now he would get tossed around in the pros.

Not to mention the fact that the Heels should have an excellent chance of being at the very least a Final Four team next year with him back. Hansbrough could actually improve his Draft status and help UNC win the NCAA tournament all at the same time. Definitely a win-win situation here.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Skips NBA Draft

I agree with you but dissenters say he won't be collecting a paycheck. And I retort with what is one more year to refine your fundementals and physicality and potentially win an NCAA title. Albeit your broke, but I think it would be pleasant to be a college basketball legend at a school like UNC. It is also sometimes the sound financial move to prolong your college experience. I am hesitant to mention Marcus Camby-Tim Duncan. Sure Camby is making plenty of money himself (but it is one of the most over-inflated contracts in NBA history), but Duncan has the professional respect of the fans and his peers; and he probably has a higher net-worth.

I definitely think he made the right decision. He had a good year playing against college players, but he will benefit from at least one more. He needs to get stronger in order to make it in the NBA, and one year will give him that.

No I personally think that he should just stay in college till he's all done cause the team needs him and don't he want to accomplish more things.
