Tar Heels star Latta picked by Detroit Shock
MLive.com, MI - 9 hours ago
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Shock took North Carolina point guard Ivory Latta with the 11th pick of the WNBA draft Wednesday.

The 5-foot-6 Latta finished her career as the leading scorer in North Carolina history with 2,285 points. Her scrappy style of play became known as "Latta-tude" as she led the Tar Heels to the NCAA tournament semifinals, where they were defeated by eventual champion Tennessee.

Latta was the Atlantic Coast Conference's player of the year as a junior. North Carolina also reached the Final Four that year, losing to eventual champion Maryland. She was named most valuable player of the ACC tournament three times.
