Nicks Earns Freshman All-America Honors
Freshman led the Tar Heels in receptions and yards. Dec. 1, 2006
Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- University of North Carolina wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has been named to the Rivals.com freshman All-America second team. A 6-1, 210-pound native of Charlotte, Nicks set UNC freshmen records with 39 receptions and 660 yards while scoring four touchdowns. He led the Tar Heels in receiving despite missing one game with a sprained ankle. Nicks had his best game of the season at Notre Dame, catching six passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. In the season finale against Duke, he posted his second 100-yard receiving game of the year with 117 yards on seven receptions. He scored the first touchdown of the game on an 83-yard scoring pass from Joe Dailey, which was the fifth-longest pass play in school history.
| Watch out for this kid over the next few years. If he stays healthy, he will be one great receiver. |
