UNC vs. Gonzaga

Well, the toughest part of the non-conference schedule will officially begine at 9:15pm ET on Nov. 22 in New York as the UNC Tarheels take on the Gonzaga Zags.

This should be a pretty good game. Yes, Gonzaga did lose their superstar in Adam Morrisson to the NBA but they always have good talent.

As soon as some sites get some coverage up on this game, I will get some links.

No. 2 Tar Heels Upended By No. 23 Gonzaga, 82-74 :: UNC will face Tennessee in Friday's consolation game.
NEW YORK (AP) - Derek Raivio scored 21 points to help Gonzaga upset No. 2 North Carolina 82-74 in the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals Wednesday night.

Despite losing star Adam Morrison to the NBA after last season, Gonzaga didn't seem fazed playing against a top program on a big stage at Madison Square Garden.

The Bulldogs (5-0) advanced to the championship game Friday night against Butler. In the first semifinal, Julian Betko scored 11 of his career-high 15 points in a decisive second-half run to give Butler a 56-44 victory over No. 22 Tennessee.

Boy, you called it, cwstech. The Zags not only played them close, but came away with the victory!

I put no stock into the regular season at all. You don't have to have a great season to win the title. You just have to play well enough to get to the tournament. If I was UNC i would not be to upset about this.

Re: UNC vs. Gonzaga

Well, Gonzaga has always had a good team. It was a close game, and a learning experience. It's not like we lost to UNC-Asheville or a team like that.

Re: UNC vs. Gonzaga

I have pointed everyone back to the 2005 season. We lost to Santa Clara early and went off after that. We have a young team, it will take a good 10 games or so for them to mesh well. But when they do, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
