| Butch Davis to Coach Tar Heels in '07 ESPN news is reporting that Butch Davis has agreed to replace John Bunting as the Tar Heel coach next season. Davis will come to UNC with an impressive resume: Davis won a national championship as an assistant under Jimmy Johnson in Miami in the 1987 season, then two Super Bowl rings as an assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. He was 51-20 as Miami head coach from 1995-2000 after taking over a Hurricanes program that mired in NCAA sanctions. Davis was 24-36 in Cleveland, with only one trip to the playoffs, and resigned during the 2004 season. He has been an analyst for the NFL Network for the past two years. Hopefully this will not only help the ailing Tar Heels, it may help raise the standard and help pull the ACC out of the slump it has recently fallen into.
