The guys over at InsideCarolina.com have reported that UNC and Butch Davis have come to and signed a contract for him to coach at UNC. Here is the post that was on that site.

BREAKING NEWS: Buck's Afternoon Update - 11-8
Inside Carolina has received reports from several sources that a contract has been signed that will bring Butch Davis to North Carolina as its next head coach.

Since there has been no formal announcement or official confirmation by UNC, we cannot report a "Done Deal," but based on the reports we are confident that the timing of the announcement is the only remaining detail to be completed. Our sources are reporting that a formal announcement could be delayed until after homecoming week and there is some conflict regarding whether to annouce before or after the homecoming game because of Bunting's presence.

Well, I'd say it's a good hire for the Tar Heels. He did well in Miami but couldn't hack having complete control in Cleveland as GM and coach. They should improve, but how much? Who knows.

ESPN this morning is confirming that Davis is close to signing. You guys like this hire?

I think it's a great hire. I know a lot of people are saying that he has only had 1 College coaching job and that he was an NFL flop. But he did take that program in Miami back to the powerhouse that it became in the 90's. He recruited and landed players such as Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Edgerin James, Santana Moss, Jeremy Shockey, among others.

Yes, these players are very interesting players, but great players non the less. I'm excited about having this caliber of a coach.

Saturday is homecoming at UNC and we play Georgia Tech. I can't wait as I sit on the 50 yard line, to hear the buzz among the Ram's club members about this hire.
