| Re: Miami 27, North Carolina 7 The article linked to above this post - the San Jose Mercury News one - features some of the most pathetic postgame quotes I've ever read, and more than anything else indicate why a coaching change is needed at UNC. Bunting said that playing hard against Miami was a nice "consolation prize." Tailback Barrington Edwards said the team needed to win, or at least "come close to winning." And wide receiver Jesse Holley said that the players were "excited about what happens, win or lose" and that they'd "get one" before the season was over.
Trying hard is good enough? You need to come close to winning to be happy with your performance? You're excited about what happens, even if you're getting whipped? You're promising ONE win before the season's over? Where are these guys heart? Their desire to win? If I was a Tar Heel fan, comments like these would cause me no end of embarrassment. Even still, they leave a bad taste in my mouth. |
