Tar Heels QB Cam Sexton

The Cam Sexton era has officially begun for the tar Heels.

Chapel Hill - Redshirt freshman Cam Sexton will start at quarterback for North Carolina against Furman on Saturday, UNC coach John Bunting said today.
Sounds like Joe Daily will still play, just not get the start. Is Cam that much better than Daily? Can he get some wins for UNC?

Re: Tar Heels QB Cam Sexton

Wow. Dailey has fallen considerably since he started at Nebraska. I haven't seen this Sexton kid play but I assume he'd have to be talented to be named the new starter.

Re: Tar Heels QB Cam Sexton

Neither one has been all that impressive. Sorry to say it sounds like a desperate coach grasping at straws, hoping something will light a fire under his team. Will it work? Well, the kid will probably look pretty good against Furman, but we really won't know if he's "the man" until he faces some real competition.

Re: Tar Heels QB Cam Sexton

Here's a little more on the switch at QB from Dailey to Sexton.

Tar Heels switching it up at quarterback | StarNewsOnline.com | Star-News | Wilmington, NC

Chapel Hill | The third game of Cam Sexton's college football career will mark his first start at quarterback.

North Carolina coach John Bunting named Sexton the starter for Saturday's game against Furman at Kenan Stadium.

Nebraska transfer Joe Dailey started the first two games, taking every snap in a season-opening 21-16 loss to Rutgers and playing half of Saturday's 35-10 defeat to Virginia Tech. But Dailey threw four interceptions in the two games and struggled to move the team.

Sexton, a redshirt freshman from Laurinburg, relieved Dailey against the Hokies and completed nine of 21 passes for 124 yards, including an 18-yard score to Brooks Foster in the fourth quarter of a 35-10 loss. Sexton also threw two interceptions.

Sexton was a four-star recruit by Scout.com and turned down offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and N.C. State to attend North Carolina.

"We want to give Cam this opportunity to start this week," Bunting said Tuesday. "There are some things that he did well. There are some things we see him do well in practice.

"Both of them are very competitive; Joe will play in this game. We wanted to see if Cam can help us play better perhaps on first down."
Haven't heard much from the UNC fans on this change under center. What do you guys think about Sexton starting?

Re: Tar Heels QB Cam Sexton

Well I think I have said time and time on this board that J.B. needs time, but I must say that after being at the game tonight I am not happy with the we are moving the team. The off. needs help, why are we not playing to our strength which is our passing game, we have some young guys that are ready to play and ready to show out, but we still want to run the ball, 40 times a games. Spread the field out, we can not have a running game without a passing game.

I think Cam is the way to go and he will be fine with more time in the film room and playing time. Cam and Hicks, Foster will make teams scared next year, just wish J.B. would be around to run the show but i really don't think so after tonight.
