| Unsigned first-round draft picks The list of unsigned 2006 first-round draft picks is a long one; in fact, it'd be easier to list who has signed: Mario Williams of the Houston Texans. Yep, that's it. Williams, the #1 overall pick, is the only draftee currently under contract with his team. I know first-rounders are always slow to sign, but this is ridiculous. Usually buy now at least a handful of guys have already signed on the dotted line, right?

| Re: Unsigned first-round draft picks I know Michael Huff of the Oakland Raiders and Kamerion Wimbley of the Cleveland Browns have signed. Yahoo! Sports is reporting that cornerback Antonio Cromartie of the San Diego Chargers is currently not in camp, and that Reggie Bush may sit out the entire season and re-enter his name in the 2007 draft if he doesn't get his asking price. How about THAT? |

Completing a two-day stretch of breakneck negotiations, the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday evening reached agreement with first-round draft choice Antonio Cromartie, a cornerback from Florida State, on his first NFL contract. The agreement means that the Chargers, whose rookies reported for work Monday, have accords with all eight of their 2006 selections. All eight deals were struck over the past two days. The team does not officially begin full-squad training camp practices until later in the week, but San Diego still has had just one first-rounder in camp on time since 2001. The 19th overall selection, Cromartie will sign a five-year contract, the maximum term permitted by the extension to the collective bargaining agreement for a player chosen in the bottom half of the first round. The contract can be worth as much as $12.75 million and includes $7.35 million in guarantees. |

| Re: Unsigned first-round draft picks Chargers fans can discuss the Cromartie signing here, or in their team's subforum in the thread entitled Antonio Cromartie signs with Chargers. Likewise, Huff's signing is also being discussed at http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/oakla...ll-hybrid.html and Wimbley's at http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/cleve...n-1st-2nd.html. And the Reggie Bush issue? Check in the Saints forum under the Reggie Bush holdout thread. |

| Re: Unsigned first-round draft picks If Reggie Bush sits out the 2006 season my friend will be furious. That means that he would've wasted his money on an expensive Bush jersey to wear this year. It would still be something nice to have in your closet as memorabilia to sell to some #1 Reggie Bush fan in ten years from now. Anybody interested? |

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans promised they wanted Vince Young, the third pick overall and the first quarterback taken in the draft, under contract before they opened training camp. They avoided any lengthy holdouts Thursday, agreeing to terms with both Young and LenDale White a day before the first practice Friday afternoon. Young, the No. 3 overall pick out of Texas, agreed to a five-year deal, with an option for a sixth, with $25.7 million guaranteed and an overall value that could reach $58 million with option and roster bonuses and salary. That would top the six-year, $54 million deal with $26.5 million guaranteed for the top draft pick, defensive end Mario Williams of Houston. "It was a great deal for us," said Major Adams, the quarterback's agent. |

| Re: Unsigned first-round draft picks Jay Cutler has signed. I'm on my way over to the Denver Broncos forum to post the details. |

| Re: Unsigned first-round draft picks After yesterday's rash of signings (please see the individual team forums for details) there are either 10 or 11 unsigned players remaining. The questionmark is John McCargo of the Bills, who may have signed overnight. Obviously, Reggie Bush leads the list. Some of the others are Donte Whitner of Buffalo, Ernie Sims of the Lions, Matt Leinart of the Cardinals and Joseph Addai of the Colts, though that's not a complete list. I'd expect most of these guys, save Bush, to sign in the next few days. |
