Cool NFL Draft Blunders

It'll be fun to watch the 3 QB's and see who screwed up. What are some of the biggest mistakes ever made during the NFL draft? I'll start with:

1) Todd Blackledge, Tony Eason and Ken O' Brien are all drafted before Dan Marino.

2) The Jets draft Blair Thomas with the first pick in the draft and pass on Emmit Smith.

3) Eddie Brown and Al Toon drafted before Jerry Rice (Toon was excellent but he was obviously not Rice).

4) Todd Marinovich and Dan McGwire selected before Brett Favre.

Any others?

Re: NFL Draft Blunders

Let's see, there are so many. The Giants taking Jarrod Bunch and Kanavis McGee one year. The Steelers taking Huey Richardson. The Bucs taking Keith McCants over Junior Seau. Rams selecting Lawrence Phillips over Eddie George. Cincy taking LB Brian Simmons when they could've had Randy Moss. How about Ryan Leaf -- can't even mention draft blunders without talking about him. Did you know Brian Griese went in the 3rd round in that same draft, 89 picks after Leaf?

In Favre rookie year, I by passed collecting Favre cards to get me some Browning Nagel (Louisville) cards...

And, I have to say it...I had rated Sammy Smith over Emmitt Smith when they were in college...

...also, how many teams passed on Tom Brady?....

You ask, I answer: In 2000 Tom Brady was the 199th overall pick: Here are the QB's that were selected ahead of him:

Chad Pennington #18
Gioavanii Carmazzi (Hofstra - by SF) #65
Chris Redman #75
Mark Bulger #168
Spergon Wynn (WHO? by Cleveland #183)

Yep...still have a box full of Redman cards...though I did get a bunch of tom Brady's..sooo...Carmazzi was a bust...Spergon Wynn was such an unknown that Score short printed his rookie...it booked as high as $50 once...sold him...

Re: NFL Draft Blunders

Lets hope the Jets don't get messed up with D'Brickashaw Ferguson, like they did with Blair Thomas. Thomas was suppose to be the Michael Jordan of football. But he turned out looking like a Kazuo Matsui-type of athlete.
