Looks like Leinart will be waiting until Oakland picks. He would've been the #1 pick last year...now he'll likely be #7.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

I wonder if Arizona or someone else will try to move up to #5 or #6 to get him.

Does Arizona have enough ammunition to trade up to say...6 with San Fran?

Hard to say, but they may not need to. ESPN reports the Raiders aren't high on Leinart -- might they go Cutler instead?

Jets may be trading up, according to Yahoo! Sports: "Scouting source says the Jets could trade back up for Leinart if he slips out of the top 10. He doesn't think that will happen, but if it does, "The Jets could move back up to get him. Packaging No. 29 and No. 35 will get them to the Ravens (at 13)."

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

Looks like AZ didnt have to move up to get Leinart. I agree with the statement that he does not have a strong arm, and will have problems making all the NFL throws.

In my opinion Cutler is the best QB of the bunch...

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

I was watching Cutler in a replay Vandy - Florida game the other day on ESPN Classic. Was not impressed with his decision making. May have the most physical talent, but he has a lot to learn about how to play the position.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

Wow, I had it in my mock (a few threads below) and it came true...the Jets took both D'Brickashaw and the big center, Nick Mangold.

I didn't expect it...but I did predict it. *Patting myself on the back lol

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

Okay so who is going to be the most successful out of the top three? I'm thinking Young. The guy was so impressive last year. I'm kinda surprised he didn't go number one. I guess you look for brains too. Rumor has it he is kinda dimwitted.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

I love Young's ability to freelance and create, but I don't know how he'll fare in an NFL offense (could be another Michael Vick). Leinart's arm strength's a question mark too, but I love his supporting case. I guess my answer is a rousing "wait and see".

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

Nice predictions, EmpireWF!

I thought they would pick those two, too (after reading Sports Illustrated).

I would've really hoped that the Jets picked Leinart when they could've. But now I guess they have to stick with that other QB they got later.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft - First Round Selections

The Jets will have a solid line, but no one worth protecting back there.
How did Florida State lose all those games last year with all these great players on the team?
Who knew that Vanderbilt had a football team?
Leinart will be just fine, he is a proven winner who has faced the best teams in the nation in pressure packed contests.
Young is so good of an athlete that he cannot be a bust.

Sure he can, if it turns out that he really is a dumb as a sack of diapers. A QB's no good if he's not smart enough to run the offense, no matter how physically talented he is. See Michael Vick.
